ABOUT ME
Hi! I'm Rebecca Williams. Pronouns: she/her/hers. I’ve lived all over the United States thanks in part to the military. I am licensed both in Wyoming and Washington as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I have a certificate in Expressive Art Therapy as well as a membership with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health.
After overcoming personal and generational hardships, 18 years of my childhood were shaped for the better by those that helped me. I found it useful to connect my personal strengths and resources through therapy and accepting my reactions to whatever life tossed my way. Getting hands on with therapy was hugely successful and prompted me to pursue expressive arts as a way to help clients.
With expressive arts therapy, each client is encouraged to use multiple forms of creative expression to articulate their inner world. Working with adolescents and young adults, I focus on internal strengths and resources as tools for overcoming failures, pain, and trauma. Our relationship in session is collaborative, open, and non-hierarchical. I find this helpful for developing problem solving skills by focusing on the impact of your present decisions on your future. Art, like life, can get messy but when we have the freedom to do so in an environment where there isn’t scrutiny, skills can be developed and taken beyond therapy.
I use more than one modality including expressive art therapy and internal family system strategies to work with individuals. These are used to develop coping skills and increasing self-awareness so you can be heard, find your inner strength, and continue to grow.
I received my Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from Chapman University and my Master’s in Social Work from Western New Mexico University. My certificate for Expressive Art Therapy is from Northwest Creative and Expressive Arts Institute.
